Child Development is Art
He graduated from the Theater Department of Ankara State Conservatory in 1977, where he started to the department with an entrance exam in 1971.
On 25 March 1994, he became the General Manager of State Theaters with an election which was made for the first and last time in State Theaters. While he was in office as a manager, he carried out the “YES TO ARTS” project which had a tremendous impact in Turkey. He has done theoretical and practical works for defining and spreading the theater culture.
He taught creative acting at the Ankara University, Eskişehir Anadolu University, New York University, Berlin School of Higher Art, England Yorkshire Bretton Hall College and Warwick University. He took part in committees and organizations that were organized by the European Parliament in Belgium, Luxembourg and Hungary, in which the principles of theater meetings were formed. He led series of workshops. Tamer Levent, who made long-term workshops in France and Tunisia and turn his workshop results into performances, has received many national and international "best" awards for his work in theater, cinema and television. His plays and articles were published in his books. He is the Honorary President of TOBAV (Theater Opera Ballet Foundation) and TOMEB.
He started drama in education and creative drama activities in Turkey. Levent's path was crossed with Hacettepe University Child Development Department and child development field at the beginning of these studies. Tamer Levent has worked on various seminars, workshops and panels on drama and creative drama. All these work had effects on introducing our department and hence the field of child development to drama and creative drama, adapting drama to the curriculum and carrying out scientific studies on the subject.
